In a striking white structure in Dubai’s traditional Al Jaddaf neighborhood, Form Hotel Dubai strives to surpass the industry’s sustainability standards and has implemented a long-term strategy to make that a reality. The hotel has established a Green Team that is tasked with educating staff, implementing innovative solutions at the hotel, and supporting the local community—all with the aim of making a positive impact from an economic, environmental, and social impact perspective. In this spirit, the hotel has committed to measuring its impact and carbon emissions. The hotel was designed by Architecture-Studio as a tribute to the deconstructed dhow, which reflects the local traditions. During construction, the firm incorporated ample green spaces, which improve air quality and promote biodiversity. The team also integrated high-efficiency fixtures and smart thermostats to monitor and reduce energy use. The hotel has been certified as a green hotel by the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing.
We spoke with the team behind Form Hotel Dubai to learn the latest on the hotel’s conscious journey.
Sustainability is about more than looking after our natural environment. It is also about considering the social and economic impact of what we do and how we do it. We also consider it a good business practice: Operating more sustainably drives costs lower and leads to more efficient management of resources. It reduces harmful business practices, increases the economic life of assets, and ensures the next generation will have the resources to sustain healthy livelihoods.
Along with our sister properties, we participate in charity events, donations, local marathons, gardening days, food festivals, beach cleaning, and more.
Waste management is the biggest sustainability hurdle for our hotel. We are trying to spread awareness for every guest through communications throughout the rooms and public spaces, and by conducting awareness training for our staff. We make and follow action plans regarding water conservation and energy and food waste management.
