Located in a rejuvenated inn originally established in 1965, Drift Nashville represents the fourth chapter in the Drift brand, with plans to expand into more exciting locations soon. The hotel’s food and drink selections are curated by local tastemaker Alexis Soler, known for acclaimed Nashville bars like No. 308 and Old Glory. “I try not to design for Nashville as much as I try to create spaces that Nashville needs, or that are lacking for me,” says Soler, who envisions the hotel’s public spaces for both sunrises and sunsets.
There is plenty in the works just in time for spring and summer. Expect daily sunset happy hours, monthly pool parties, Drift’s signature Thursday night party, and wellness activities. Plus, indulge in perfectly crafted yet delightfully simple cocktails at The Sun Room, a concept particularly dear to Soler. “I envisioned a bar focused solely on the guest experience,” explains Soler. “We’ve drifted away from that lately, making it more about the bartender’s skill. I wanted to simplify, allowing the focus to return to the guest.”
The local creative community is also at the core of Drift Nashville’s design. From Alexis’ sister Britt Soler’s custom D-shaped wooden handles on the entrance doors to Thomas Hans’ plaster lighting sculptures for Jamas Creative over the welcome desk, and the handmade tiles by Red Rock Tileworks throughout the guestrooms, café, and lobby bar—every detail bears the mark of a local artisan.
Dryden, a local studio, masterfully intertwines the hotel’s original midcentury architecture with Drift’s distinctive Baja style. Warm hues like rust red and forest green complement earthy materials evocative of the American Southwest and Mexico, including leather, terrazzo, wood, and terracotta. Custom artworks sourced from nearby studios and from artists like Sick Dye, Relic Home, Ferrin Ironworks, Juliana Morgan Álvarez of Father Wolf, and Michael McCollum add a unique touch. Paying homage to Elvis, who frequented the hotel’s historic building in the past, the penthouse suite boasts sweeping city views and a standout feature: a golden toilet.
With its meticulous selection of materials, décor, and programming, Drift Nashville is poised to become a destination cherished by visitors and locals alike, offering meaningful spaces that harmonize with local resources and resonate with the spirit of the city.
