Tortue’s historic structure features high ceilings and two newly constructed floors that house suites and a terrace.

Built in 1888 as the city’s state ministry, Tortue Hamburg has taken the Stadthöfe district by storm. Visitors come for masterful French-inspired restoration and rooftop views of St. Michael’s church and the harbor, but they venture forth into the Stadthöfe to discover five single houses connected by four inner courtyards, forming a new quarter right next to the city’s historic “Fleet” canal.

Sultry and seductive, the interiors yoke warm furniture with patterned walls, works by renowned street artists...

and curated historical elements. Awash in brass and plush fabrics, with historic walls that could have easily been a home to the city’s Boheme in the days of Napoleon, Tortue Hamburg boasts an instantly inviting atmosphere. Collected artwork from renowned street art artists (e.g. Vhils from Portugal) find their spot next to historical pieces that echo the grand theme of the Stadthöfe.
